Score Some Late Night Ice Cream
Monday, June 26th
With new summer hours in place, Melt now is open from 4 p.m. to midnight, Monday through Thursday, and from noon to midnight Friday through Sunday, making it one of the sweetest late night eats destinations in Phoenix. We’ve decided to use the continuing high heat as an excuse to head there tonight for a midnight snack of Fruity Pebbles, Fresh Peach, or Cookie Monster – a blue cookie-batter ice cream with Oreos, mills wafers, and Chips Ahoy.

If you have never experienced the joy that is a puffy taco, a trip to Surprise is in order.

Grab a Puffy Taco in Surprise
Wednesday, June 28th
We haven’t stopped thinking about these airy fried tacos since our food critic wrote about them last week. The Texas specialty is only available from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, so we recommend celebrating hump day with a drive to pick-up a few at the Puffy Taco Truck in Surprise.

In honor of Mai Tai Day, Hula’s Modern Tiki is slinging $8 Mai Tai cocktails ranging from their signature version, a not-too-sweet combination of gold rum, dark rum, orange curaçao, orgeat, pineapple, and lime juice, to a bourbon Honi Honi made with whiskey, lime juice orgeat, and orange curaçao. Also on offer is a Mai Tai pairing dinner, which includes two courses specially selected to complement a particular version of the cocktail. Dishes include kitchy island-inspired options like coconut shrimp rolls, fish tacos, and macadamia encrusted Hapu.

Try a Taste of Gujarati Cuisine
Sunday, June 2nd
Last week we wrote about the dishes that make up a typical Gujarati meal. The best way to get taste as much of this sweet, sour, spicy coastal cuisine is by ordering a sample platter called a thali. Om Bistro offers one such Gujarati thali exclusively at lunchtime on Saturdays and Sundays. We think a culinary discovery is the best way to wrap up the weekend.
