Don’t be surprised if you see a familiar, affable face and shiny chrome dome at a local restaurant sometime in the near future.
Travel Channel star Andrew Zimmern was scheduled to land in Arizona with his crew this week, filming a new episode of Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World. He’ll be hitting up everything from Dot’s Diner at the Shady Dell in Bisbee to the Navajo Nation.
I talked to folks from his show a number of times in the past few weeks, and gave them a slew of suggestions for Zimmern to check out.
First and foremost, I thought he needed to try a bacon-wrapped Sonoran hot dog, slathered with beans and tomatoes and onions and mayo. So if you drive down Indian School Road and see a camera crew at the local favorite hot dog stand at 20th Street, that’s gotta be him. His people sounded really intrigued when I described it to them — in fact, I think I made them hungry.
There are a lot of other possibilities as well — including Kai at Sheraton Wild Horse Pass, Fry Bread House, Rito’s, Carolina’s, and more.
Sounds great! I’m dying to see the episode, whenever it airs. I’ll keep you posted when I hear more.
