We keep hearing pie will replace cupcakes as the new It Dessert, and if that’s really true, then the Gateway Dessert has got to be the whoopie pie.

They’re popping up all over, including on the cover of this too-cute new book at Frances, one of our fave local boutiques. Frances — the big sis to Smeeks candy store, located a couple storefronts to the east — isn’t a foodie stop, per se, but does have a great kitchen section (along with mostly women’s jewelry, fashions and accessories), and some good food-related books. 
 
We noticed this book on the Frances/Smeeks blog this morning, and had to share.
