Showing 441 - 462 of 2637The Chuckbox isn’t flashy. It’s not high-tech or cutting-edge. Heck, it still requires cash. But all of the things it’s not are why we love this Tempe institution. Housed inside a rustic cabin, it’s a stark contrast to the Miami-style high-rises that tower above it. The menu is tight, focusing on large mesquite-broiled burgers that […]
Established in San Diego in 2009, this family-owned operation started selling never-frozen fish by the pound six years later in south Scottsdale (a second location opened in Uptown Plaza in 2019, then a third in north Scottsdale in 2022). Sustainability is a big thing at Chula. The owners have a 68-foot Hoquiam harpoon fishing boat […]
Established in San Diego in 2009, this family-owned operation started selling never-frozen fish by the pound six years later in Scottsdale (this is the second location opened in Uptown Plaza in 2019). Sustainability is a big thing at Chula. The owners have a 68-foot Hoquiam harpoon fishing boat (aptly named Chula) on which they travel […]
If you’ve got a sweet tooth after dining at Craig DeMarco and Lauren Bailey’s restaurant/bar Windsor in Central Phoenix, you’ll want to stop by their adjoining sweet shop, Churn, afterward for some stellar homemade ice cream. Classic flavors like butter pecan and peanut butter mix with seasonal varieties, and they all taste great on a […]
For a desert town, Phoenix has a surprisingly large number of Italian restaurants. Cibo Pizzeria (it’s pronounced CHEE-boh) is one of the best. The downtown restaurant serves signature wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, salads, saltimbocca bread and fresh limoncello made from a family recipe by chef Guido Saccone. But aside from the house-made pasta, killer burrata and wine […]
Adero is a luxury hotel in Scottsdale and Cielo is the resort’s onsite restaurant. Menu items are made with regionally sourced ingredients, the craft cocktails are heavily on tequila and mezcal, and much of the beer is from Fountain Hills’ Bone Haus Brewing. Cielo, Spanish for sky, also offers plenty of scenic outdoor seating.
Equal parts art gallery, restaurant, and bar, this hip hangout serves some of the best high-end tequila (we love the Gran Centenario Rosangle, hibiscus-infused tequila) and the yummiest lobster tacos(breaded and fried lobster meat topped with cabbage and tangy sauce)in town. Ole!
This casual neighborhood barbecue joint in Central Phoenix from the owner of Copper Star Coffee features hickory-smoked, slow-cooked pork, beef brisket, and chicken cooked with signature rubs and sauces that can be had in burgers, sandwiches, salads, and as full meals along with starters and sides of American favorites, or before a few homemade desserts. […]
Don’t let the name and the address fool you. Citizen Public House, founded by former Cowboy Ciao culinary master chef Bernie Kantak, may sound pretentious, but its stylish yet relaxed atmosphere and offerings of classic American fare with a delicious kick are nothing short of modest classiness. From picture-perfect scallops and standout starters like the […]
This cozy, intimate Scottsdale lounge is all about its craft cocktails: a lambic sorbet made from raspberry-flavored beer, then turned into a slushy by an old-fashioned paint-can shaker; a berry-and-lemonade punch made with hand-stirred dry ice; and a gin-and-tonic cooked up in a double boiler from 100-proof vodka distilled over dried juniper berries, lemon rinds, […]
After being disappointed by the Indian restaurants in town, the owners of City of Spice decided that instead of complaining, they’d open their own spot. Co-owner Azher Uddin and his wife, Bhoomi, both have hospitality in their blood, with their families in India running restaurants and catering businesses. At City of Spice, Uddin and his […]
The folks at Cj’s Talley’s Pub tend to be a close-knit bunch. The banter between the patrons and the barkeeps is priceless, with everyone cracking jokes about the latest happenings in the social circle, ordering up rounds of Bud Light and Fat Tire, and sharing belly laughs. The hostess is happy to switch channels between […]
This eclectic Ahwatukee establishment functions as both a sports joint and live music venue, offering the best of both worlds to its funky and family-oriented clientele. A total of 40 different high-definition flatscreens feature all the major sports packages and are bound to have whatever big game you’re seeking. Meanwhile, the fully stocked bar boasts […]
Something about the way Classic Italian Pizzeria is situated in its Tempe shopping plaza makes it hard to spot. But the reward for getting good directions is excellent thin-crust pizza, served hot out of the wood-burning brick oven with fresh gourmet toppings. Try the one with homemade sausage, roasted mushrooms, and onions. Blond wood furniture, […]
This sleek midtown restaurant, from former Parlor Pizzeria chefs Jared Porter and Joseph Absolor along with co-owners Joshua James and Nicholas Campisano (who also did time at the pizzeria), is more or less a Chinese-American comfort food head trip. Porter and Absolor’s tight selection of reinvented street snacks, rice and noodle dishes, and steamed buns […]
This fun, kid-friendly restaurant has some of the best full-meal daily specials around. Monday, it’s meatloaf with all the best sides(including an incredibly buttery mashed potato); on Wednesday, it’s spaghetti and meatballs as good as grandma makes(if grandma is from Naples, that is). Happy Hour starts early and includes $2 pints and an impressive list […]
