Better loosen your belt before you set foot in Pedro’s, because the kitchen sure doesn’t skimp on portions here. From huge overstuffed burros to quesadillas oozing with tasty machaca, there are plenty of reasons to indulge. Not surprisingly, this casual Mexican joint has become a West Valley institution.
P.F. Chang’s fast-casual little sibling has all the pan-Asian style you’d expect, along with affordable noodles, stir-fries, and nibbles inspired by Chinese, Japanese, and Southeast Asian cuisine. The minced chicken with cool lettuce wraps is habit-forming.
Diners in Phoenix don’t head to Pei Wei for authentic Asian cuisine, but rather for non-traditional takes on Chinese noodle dishes and lettuce wraps. Large portions are the order of the day at the chain, whose restaurants combine faux Asian fare (Sriracha Chicken Salad, Crab Rangoon, and any number of pan-fried-while-you-watch entrees, all with dipping […]

There are a lot of nice cars in Scottsdale, that’s for sure. But there’s only one place where you can oogle the goods of the most winning cars in the history of racing. In case you’re not a racing fan the aforementioned “winners” refers to the Penske Racing Team, which has in fact been awarded […]
Big-box grocery stores devote about three feet of shelf space to spices, crammed with name-brand jars full of bland powders that may not be so fresh. To get specially sourced, carefully curated spices, there’s always the Internet. But if you want to skip the shipping fee and, more importantly, inhale the aroma of your prized […]
The city of Peoria completed construction of this state-of-the-art performance venue in 2007. Its located in the heart of downtown Peoria and is home to resident theater group, Theater Works. The main stage auditorium seats 280 while a smaller, black-box theater accommodates more intimate works with about 80 seats. We love the lobby’s visual arts […]
Take me out to the ballgame, indeed. This stunning stadium is on a short list of nationally acclaimed state-of-the-art spring training facilities. There’s hardly a bad seat in the entire ballpark, including those on the grass (although there’s little in the way of shade-desert visitors, beware!). Located in Peoria, right around the corner from Arrowhead […]
Pepe’s serves Mexican food that tastes like it was made in a Mexican village. They make enormously flavorful dishes, especially the riveting chicken mole enchilada. Green corn tamales are also first-rate, as is the Taco Monterrey, one stuffed with shredded beef and egg.
It’s our own little Whistle Stop Cafe, set in the heart of an industrial park/salvage district. Hard to find but worth the effort, this clean, quaint, country-style truck stop tempts with down-home chili, meat loaf, chicken-fried chicken, and amazing breakfasts (delicious biscuits and gravy, huge omelets, pancakes).
