This unassuming storefront in downtown Mesa is home to some of the best baked goods in the Valley. The bakery and café, which cranks out simple but delectable treats, was even featured on TLC’s Best Food Ever as one of the Top 10 Most Bodacious Bakeries. A great breakfast, like cinnamon roll French toast or a basic egg and cheese sandwich, or lunch, like the chicken pecan salad sandwich with a side of homemade soup, can be had at this restaurant, but as the name suggests, sweets are what this shop does best. Try one of the giant chewy cookies stacked behind the counter by the dozens and you’ll be sold. Peanut butter M&M, oatmeal chocolate chip, oatmeal butterscotch, and crasin white chocolate pecan are just a few of the flavors you’ll find. Sweet Cakes Café also bakes delicious desserts like lemon bars, caramel pecan rolls, and five-layer brownies (coined the “Better Than Sex Brownie”).
