In the tradition of distinctive Phoenix restaurants tucked into re-purposed old buildings, there's The Parlor, a pizza parlor in a mid-century beauty parlor. It's a fitting concept from father-and-son owners Dan and Aric Mei, who combine a pizza pedigree (they also own Nello's in Ahwatukee) with a great design aesthetic (Aric, an artist, played a significant role in the eco-friendly building renovation and interior decor). The rustic, casual menu of crisp, chewy wood-fired pizza, handmade pasta, sandwiches, and salads pairs well with handcrafted cocktails that utilize fresh herbs from the on-site garden.
