With Coachella beginning only five days before 4/20 this year, it's a busy week for stoners.
One thing that's essential for a good blazing session is a solid soundtrack to light up to. Chances are, you've already seen at least one list of songs -- they're hard to avoid today!
So we've left out the token weed songs like Sublime's "Smoke Two Joints," Weezer's "Hash Pipe" and the Steve Miller Band's "The Joker," and put a 10-song soundtrack together for your listening pleasure. No particular order!
Round up your friends, your grinder, your piece or papers, and a huge load of Mary Jane and let the 4/20 festivities commence.
"Stray," Devin the Dude
If there's one person besides Devin the Dude who can't stand stupid bitches, it's definitely me. Not only are the lyrics easy to appreciate, but every aspect of the song just sounds so soft that you could practically stroke a furry wall to it. Devin The Dude is definitely an underrated stoner rapper -- in fact, we've got a whole list of songs from him to chill out with today.
"Looks Just Like the Sun," Broken Social Scene
A deep, slow sound always helps set the mood for getting a puff puff pass circle going a la That 70s Show, plus it's a good song to wake n' bake to.
"Lebanese Blonde," Thievery Corporation
The sitar sound isn't one most people hear on a daily basis. The vocals on this song flow like warm honey out of a plastic honey bear, and the soft percussion is pretty soothing as well. There's a good reason why this song is supposedly named after a type of Lebanese hashish.
"Massage Situation," Flying Lotus
If the angels at the gates of heaven greeted you with a gentle hip-hop tune, this would be it.
"My Girls," Animal Collective
The epic introduction brings me into a dream world that I wish would play out loud every time something notably awesome happened or I had a revelation of any kind.
"Cheeba Cheeba," Tone-Loc
Let's take it back to the old school jams. The lyrics include a few mentions of the munchies, including this one: "Big bags of chips, gallons of dip / Took me a week to get the taste off my lips." Even though this list mostly doesn't include tracks about weed itself, the slick rapping on this song can't go unmentioned.
"Do You Realize," The Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips are known for their modern psychedelic sound. This track is light and airy, and I always feel like I'm on a cloud when I listen to it. Wow, that really makes me sound like I'm stoned.
"Pussy," Brazilian Girls
The horn riffs in this song are so loose and happy that I can't help but smile when I hear that melody, and the lyrics in the chorus are sort of amusing if you've never heard the song before. Sabina Sciubba's smooth voice gives off laidback vibes too. Fuck it, I just want to dance.
"Black Tambourine," Beck
It's the bass mixed with the subtle tambourine that really do me in on this song. The low beat and the repeating guitar lick make me want to smoke so I can make the song feel like it's longer than it actually is. Not to mention that the music video is a sight to see as well.

"Loud Pipes," Ratatat
I think just about anything by Ratatat puts me in a good mood in any state of being. But there's something about that fluid repetition that makes me want to stomp my feet to keep the beat every time I listen to "Loud Pipes" in particular.
