Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
As any 18- to 21-year-old will probably tell you, our fair city is in serious need of places where underage types can party. The folks behind The Spot at Johnny’s Uptown, 40 East Camelback Road, must’ve thought so, too, as they’ve launched a weekly after-hours shindig that’s sure to pack in the 18-and-up crowd every Friday night (technically Saturday morning). Starting at 2 a.m., DJs Ezra Zealous and Justice 8:32 will spin a mix of electro house, tribal house, and trance until sunrise. Guest DJs will join the fray every week (including local house-meister DJ Tranzit, who visits on Friday, October 31. A full menu of gourmet food and non-alcoholic beverages is also available. The bar reopens at 6 a.m. with DJ Get Drunk and DJ Turtlewaxxx taking over the Technics and dropping hip-hop beats. Guess you’ll be sleeping in that day. Call 480-304-1780.
