Elizabeth Quintanilla (a.k.a. DJ Alkemé) prefers her jams to be sexy and slow. We’re talking seductive joints like Sade’s “The Moon and the Sky,” John Legend’s “No Other Love,” or even Estelle’s “Come Over.” The kind of torrid tracks that provide a sultry slow burn and are sure to heat up the chill ambiance of her new weekly pool party Azúl Phoenix, which launches on Thursday, July 8, at the Hotel San Carlos, 202 North Central Avenue. Besides all the beguiling R&B balladry, Quintanilla and her “partner in crime” Deon Pearson will also fill the outdoor air with smooth jazz, deep house, and other kinky cuts, all of which will also be piped into the downstairs Ghost Lounge should you need to escape the late-afternoon sun. Local jazz/neo-soul vocalist Patrice will perform, and painter Ray Rivas will offer live art. Dive in starting at 5 p.m. Admission is $5. Call 602-253-4121.
