The turntable scene here in the PHX seems pretty fucking fickle sometimes, as DJs repeatedly relocate their record-spinning gigs from club to club — or pull the plug on them entirely — faster than they can send out notices on MySpace. In the past year alone, local scenesters have been mourning the loss of such hotness as Hot Pink! at Karamba and The Flavor Shop at The Loft. But now all this stylish sulking may cease, as Batucada, one of the Valley’s dopest dance nights, has returned following a six-month vacay. After rocking clubs like Sky Lounge in Phoenix and Next in Scottsdale over the past five years, DJs Pete “Supermix” Salaz and Senbad have taken over Saturdays at the newly renovated Ain’t Nobody’s Bizness, 3031 East Indian School Road, where — along with weekly guests — they’ll serve up the hottest in house music. The mixmaster madness starts at 10 p.m., and the cover is $5.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,250 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
