Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Following in the footsteps of Jake E. Lee and Randy Rhoads would seem an unenviable task, but Zakk Wylde proved he was more than up to the challenge, serving as Ozzy Osbourne’s lead guitarist for a two-decade, five-album stretch from 1987 to 2009. Along the way, Wylde formed his own band, Black Label Society, to provide a more consistent outlet for his chugging, Southern rock riffs and trademark squealing harmonics. Black Label Society released their eighth studio album, Order of the Black, earlier this year and are currently in the midst of their Black Label Berzerkus tour. Providing direct support are veteran Maryland blues rockers Clutch, who have cultivated a reputation as one of the best live bands in hard rock, thanks to a near-constant touring schedule and a core lineup that has remained unchanged for more than 20 years. Rounding out the bill are Finnish melodic death metal pioneers Children of Bodom and California groove metal band 2cents.
