If there’s one thing that the ‘Nix has its fair share of, it’s DJ collectives. There’s the VinylTech DJs (who do the house music thing), the Overmind Works crew (focusing on psytrance and downtempo jams), and the Ultra Lounge DJs (who are all over the musical map). But none of these turntablist cabals has the expansive rosters of the Dirt Assasinz, which boast a staggering lineup of 13 different mixmasters, each specializing in a specific genre or flavor of EDM. For instance, Brook B. likes spinning up breakbeats and electro-house, while Adam John does the drum ‘n’ bass and dubstep thing, and Rob Kwik focuses on electro-breaks. You can witness all three of these wax workers in actions (as well as the DA’s DJ Louder) when they take over Myst, 7340 East Shoeman Lane in Scottsdale, during BoomboxXx on Friday, January 2. Doors open at 9 p.m. Call 480-970-5000 for cover. Visit www.dirtassasinz.com
