If you're into mash-ups, no doubt you've heard of the dope DJ duo A Plus D (a.k.a. Adrian and the Mysterious D. Over the past six years, the punky San Francisco couple have pimped the art form of smashing together songs, either through their own masterful mixes (merging Kanye and classical to create "Beethoven's Fifth Gold Digger") or the series of Bootie club nights they've put on around the globe. Debuting in 2003 at Frisco's Cherry Bar, the mash-up dance party has since spread to such cities as Munich and Beijing, and is coming to Club Red, 2155 East University Drive in Tempe, on Friday, April 24. A Plus D plan on dropping some of their coolest creations, including "Addicted to White Lines" (a boss blending of Grandmaster Flash, Robert Palmer, and Protection) and "Love Will Tear You Apart" (combing She Wants Revenge with Joy Division and Bauhaus), as well as the works of other mash-up producers. Valley hipsters Jared Alan and William Fucking Reed will also spin. Doors open at 8 p.m. with $7 cover (and free Bootie mash-ups CDs for the first 50 people). Visit www.bootiephoenix.com.
