Local band Boys and Frogs sure are a stylish bunch. Just look at that press photo! The dramatic lighting, the artfully placed flowers, the stoic looks. You’d be forgiven for looking at the band and thinking, hey, these folks look like they belong on the big screen (and not just because Daniel Seckler, left, looks an awful lot like Phillip Seymour-Hoffman in this picture).
Maybe I’ve got that impression because of their videos. Few bands around town are doing it up as classy as Boys and Frogs, and almost if as they were trying prove the point, the band is releasing their new album, Rain Dance Snowed In, at Madcap Theaters, in the New Times Theater on June 4.
The band will also be premiereing the video for “Old Tribes,” filmed with help from the crew of CBS show Criminal Minds.
The band premiered its last video, “In Dreams,” at Madcap back in October. It isn’t quite as stellar-looking as “Old Tribes,” but it’s still one of the best videos I’ve seen come out of the Phoenix indie scene.
