Legendary artist Brian Wilson has been confirmed as the headliner for the Fiesta Bowl Invitational on January 4, 2009, at the Phoenician Resort. The co-founder of the Beach Boys recently released his latest studio album, That Lucky Old Sun, on September 2, a follow-up to his critically acclaimed album Brian Wilson presents SMiLE, which was recorded in 1966 but not released until 2006.

In a press release, Fiesta Bowl Chairman of the Board Dave Tilson states, "The Fiesta Bowl Invitational presented by Ellie and Michael Ziegler was created to be a celebration, most notably of the hard work and talent of our Fiesta Bowl teams. Thus it is only fitting to have one of the most celebrated artists of our time, Brian Wilson, serve as the main act. We are thrilled to have him perform."
The Fiesta Bowl Invitational is held the night before the Fiesta Bowl (which takes place at University of Phoenix Stadium) and features a silent auction for charities, including The 100 Club, which assists the families of fallen police officers and firefighters.
Ticket prices for this formal event are steep ($400 a seat), but organizers expect a slew of "distinguished guests" and Valley business leaders. An up-close-and-personal performance by the elusive Wilson should serve as a fine musical booster. Visit www.fiestabowl.org for more information.
