Bruno Mars sure has a way with the ladies. His song “Just the Way You Are” has become an anthem for females everywhere, as the number one hit implores women (and, well, anyone) to stay true to themselves and not give in to changing for the object of their affection. Mars also scored chart-busting tracks with “Billionaire” and “Nothin’ on You,” another female-centric pop ditty designed to turn ladies into butter. Though he’s a natural at writing songs that women want to hear, Mars wasn’t always so sure of himself as an artist, cultivating his songwriting skills with his team, The Smeezingtons, before breaking out as a solo artist. “I had to go through this process to really figure out the kind of music I wanted to be doing and the kind of songs I wanted to perform,” Mars says. “It was definitely tough at times, but it made me a stronger person.” And as he embarks on his first North American headlining tour, he’s coming into his own as a solo artist with more confidence than ever before. Having the adoring approval of millions of women around the world probably doesn’t hurt, either.
