Over the last 30-ish years, Dan Bejar (of the New Pornographers fame) has used Destroyer to create textured, multifaceted indie rock. But while changes routinely happen from song to song, the same kind of metamorphosis also occurs between recorded LPs and Bejar's dynamic live show.

Don't believe us? You can find out for yourself when Bejar brings Destroyer to Phoenix's The Rebel Lounge on September 26. It's part of a 27-date North American tour that spans the end of September and the bulk of October (and follows some light touring across Europe in June). Expect lots of dancing, heavy emoting and maybe a dash of theatrics, with Bejar bringing his songs to life in a way that always feels deeply refreshing.

All of this, of course, comes in support of Destroyer's latest album, "Dan's Boogie," due out March 28. The follow-up to 2022's excellent "Labyrinthitis," this latest nine-track collection is said to be another "contradiction" in Destroyer's robust discography. While the record "began its life as a disappearing act," its since been deemed a "breakthrough," with Bejar playing the roles of "a lounge singer, a hustler, and, at times, a supporting character in his own fantasies."

For a better sense of the album's end goals and narrative, Bejar has already released two singles, "Hydroplaning Off the Edge of the World" and "Bologna." To coincide with today's tour announcement, check out the album's latest single, the groovy but contemplative "Cataract Time."
Tickets are on sale Thursday, March 6 at 10 a.m. local time via therebellounge.com.
