Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Dierks Bentley knows where his bread is buttered, which is why the country superstar’s upcoming benefit concert at Tempe Marketplace has a Harley-and-highway theme and not, say, a redecorate-your-loft theme. “Miles & Music for Kids” will offer fellow road warriors the opportunity to cruise from Cave Creek to Tempe with the hog-loving Phoenix native, followed by a “post-ride jam” that will also feature performances by Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Jessi Colter, and Stoney LaRue. And here’s the kicker: KPNX Channel 12 porn-mustache guy Mark Curtis will host. Ticket prices range from $300 for the star-treatment “VIP Ride & Concert” ticket to $20 for simple admission, and all proceeds will benefit the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. So even if you’re not a huge fan of Bentley and his upbeat country-pop ditties, or a particular admirer of porn mustaches, there’s the universal incentive of helping little sick kids. Hell, we’d suffer through Darius “Hootie” Rucker for that. Visit the aptly named Web site dierks.com for more details.
