Dinah Cancer wants you to know that she is not goth. Goth connotes mopery, and as a wicked woman of the night, Cancer does not mope -- she prowls. "I do carry a fondness for dead things," Cancer writes on her Web site. "I'd always worn and had a very gripping affair with the darker part of our society, [but] I consider myself more Death Rock than a gothic." As front woman of the seminal death punk band 45 Grave, Cancer spent the better part of the early '80s penning such cataclysmic classics as "Riboflavin Flavored, Non-Carbonated, Polyunsaturated Blood" and "Fucked by the Devil." When 45 Grave dissolved, Cancer formed the all-female garage ghoul outfit Penis Flytrap, never straying from the morbid makeup and tattered black fishnet outfits that perpetually cling to her pale skin. She just might get a tan (shudder) when she visits the Valley of the Sun, where she will pay tribute to the passing of former 45 Grave bandmate Rob Graves with her new band, the Grave Robbers.
