The calendar on your wall may read 2010, but DJ Medik likes to turn the clock back a few decades during his Thursday-night spin session at Renee’s Grand Avenue Tavern, 2448 Grand Avenue. Old-school R&B and funk is always on tap, whether it’s deep cuts of Marvin Gaye or Cameo, tracks by King Floyd, or even some Lionel Richie. “I try to stay true to the R&B, soul, and funk from the ’70s and ’80s, even the ’60s,” Medik says. “I’ll also do some of the current, Top 40 stuff, but I mostly try to stick to the classics. I tell people to come with an old-school attitude because you’re gonna get a lot of stuff you ain’t gonna hear at other places.” The time warp starts at 8 p.m. and there’s no cover. Call 602-252-2770.
