Endless Summer

It seems as though the summer arrives earlier and earlier each year, as that unforgiving beeyotch Mother Nature delights at ratcheting up the Valley's thermostat way before we're ready to start enduring the sweltering, 100-degree-plus temperatures. So it's good to know that Joel Davis (a.k.a. DJ Epidemic) is already preparing for the day that the mercury shoots skyward with his Endless Summer shindigs at The Clarendon, 401 West Clarendon Avenue. While the summertime pool party series doesn't officially debut until next month, the P-Town turntablist has been holding special "soft opening" previews every Sunday on at the chic hotel. Along with his beat-juggling bud Bigie and special guest DJs, Epidemic spins a mix of alternative, R&B, soul, hip-hop, and downtempo jams for revelers and sun-worshippers gathered around the rooftop pool. The music starts at 3 p.m. and admission is free. Call 602-252-7363. And if you can't make it out to the Clarendon, both Bigie and Epidemic (who constitute the DJ duo known as Glory Hole) will be working the decks at Myst, 7340 East Shoeman Lane in Scottsdale, on Friday, March 13, in support of Toronto electro group MSTRKRFT. Doors open at 9 p.m. with a $10 cover. Visit www.mystaz.com.
