Though considered the leading female voice of the neo-soul movement, you could say Erykah Badu pretty much transcends musical genres, taking on hip-hop, pop, soul and even the occasional jazz track without seeming out of her comfort zone. After a five-year hiatus, she re-emerges with New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh), whose video for the single "Window Seat" has generated a lot of controversy because of the song's subject matter (she strips naked and is shot on the JFK assassination site in Dallas). Comebacks aren't easy for many artists (just ask Whitney Houston), but the break seems to have refreshed Badu. Some tunes are destined to be classics, such as the mid-tempo funk of "Turn Me Away (Get MuNNY)" and the lovely ballad "20 Feet Tall," which she often uses as a show opener. In concert, she appears with a full band and four singers, running through her hits while also focusing on new material. The tour's official site, outmymindjustintimetour.com, is offering fans a chance to score free tickets for any show on the tour.
