Hyphenates abound in Phoenix’s downtown art scene — it’s relatively commonplace that bohemian types hawking paintings during First Friday or plucking guitars at Modified Arts probably have a record-spinning gig at a nearby bar or nightclub. Hence the meaning behind Everyones a Fucking DJ, which takes over the Upstairs Bar at Homme, 138 West Camelback Road, every Thursday night. “It seems like everyone living downtown is throwing ‘DJ’ on their résumé these days,” says artist Dann Dykas (a.k.a. DJ Double N), who spins punk and ’90s alternative at the weekly (fellow resident turntablists Kamie and Kevin The Makeout Bandit drop electro and indie rock tracks). The trio also brings in guest DJs every week from throughout the local scene, including spinsters from Burn, Glam, and the Bikini Lounge. Think of it as a chance to hear what’s going down in the local scene, without having to hit up six different clubs. The records roll starting at 9 p.m. and there’s no cover. Call 602-234-3023.
