Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Let’s be frank. The problem with metalcore is that it all sounds the same. Enter Zao’s hotly anticipated Fear Is What Keeps Us Here, its upcoming sophomore effort for Ferret Music. Details are scarce, but the band is debuting two songs on this tour. And here’s the kicker: The album was recorded with Steve Albini, the legendary studio wizard with a catalog of deep-hewn discs that includes Nirvana, Slint, and High on Fire, whose Blessed Black Wings leaves us bloody, bruised, and hungry for more every time we listen to it — like the pit at a Remembering Never show. And they’re on this bill too.
