The project began when an Englishman named Richard Newman decided to reach out for singers, musicians and producers via Twitter to make a cover song together in honor of his two year Twitter anniversary.
Just a few short days later, Tw1tterband pulled off a pretty solid cover of the Smiths’ “Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want.” They even got some feedback from the Smiths’ guitarist Johnny Marr himself.
“Nice job. I’m touched,” Marr tweeted to Tw1tterband.
The group has raised over £2,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support. Way to go, Twitter donators!
