The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
This weekend is probably the biggest three days of music I can remember in my time in the Valley, with two multi-day festivals (Country Thunder and Tempe Music Fest) along with Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Fall Out Boy, Leonard Cohen, Bonnie Prince Billy and Calexico all coming to town.
Think you’ll still be craving live music Monday? If so, head on down to Yucca Tap Room for their weekly open mic night hosted by Troy. I’ve never actually been, but if it’s anything like Rockeroke (and knowing Rodney Hu’s knack for booking talent I’ll bet it is) it’s a great time.
As for me, if I can make it all the way to Sunday’s Lou Reed show at Chandler Center for the Arts I’ll consider the weekend a success.
