In anticipation of their debut album, In Light, being released next Tuesday, NPR Music has deemed Givers worthy of their Exclusive First Listen label, offering up a full album stream of their much-anticipated debut. Oh, did I mention Givers are playing Phoenix this Saturday?
Yes, Givers will be playing The Trunk Space this Saturday, 6/4. Givers appeared on my radar rather quickly, as I hadn’t really heard of the band until late last week. The timing, however, is rather serendipitous. As I listen to In Lights, I am feeling more and more compelled to attend Givers’ set this Saturday. Their Afrobeat-drenched indie pop coalesces into the rather perfect summer album in the form of In Lights. The five members of the band are rather diplomatic about their respective roles — vocals are divided amongst three members of the band, while the other two hold it down on percussion. It’s an amalgamation most definitely worth a listen or two.
Givers are scheduled to perform at The Trunk Space Saturday, 6/4. In Lights is out 6/7 via Glassnote. The album is streaming in full via NPR Music.
