Head Automatica is the brainchild of Daryl Palumbo — you probably know him as “that guy from Glassjaw.” He may have started out screaming for a rap-metal band, but he says he always wanted to make party music. So he picked the perfect partner in Dan “The Automator” Nakamura, a creator of Gorillaz. The Automator devised catchy beats to be paired with chunky guitars, compliments of Palumbo. The resulting sound is a mix of New Wave and gritty rock — no rap or drop-D tuning. (Really, it doesn’t sound like Glassjaw.) True to Palumbo’s goal, Head Automatica is the perfect dance-party backdrop, complete with sexualized lyrics to help get you and that hottie across the room in the same frame of mind. Will Head Automatica get you laid? Maybe not, but it will get you worked up.
