Seven months after the European release of Idlewild’s soaring single “Love Steals Us From Loneliness” (and six months after the album it comes from hit shops overseas), American fans were still wondering how to steel themselves against a world without a domestic release of Warnings/Promises. The group’s U.S. label, Capitol, finally issued the disc a few weeks ago, and now the Scottish pop-rock quintet is headlining a monthlong tour in search of the audience it deserves. Warnings doesn’t better 2002’s earnest, jangling The Remote Part, but it doesn’t damage the band’s ramshackle goodness, either. Sharing the bill is freckle-faced singer-songwriter Inara George, an Idlewild pal whose voice is all over the group’s new disc.
