If you ever wondered what Devo would be like if they were born Japanese, Polysics is your answer.
The Japan-born band cites the New Wave group as a major influence and, as such, dons jumpsuits and sunglasses reminiscent of the American group and even covers some of Devo’s tracks. And, of course, there is major synthesizer action going down in the tunes, which are sung in both English and Japanese.
The band, which has been around since 1997 and recnetly released its latest album, Absolute Polysics, will appear at the Rhythm Room on Wednesday, February 3. Tickets are available at www.statesidepresents.com, are $13 in advance and $15 day of.
