Joe DiPadova

The holiday season is all about getting together with your friends and family. So it's kinda groovy that local EDM fanatics are gonna get the chance to reunite with Joe DiPadova this weekend. The 29-year-old mixmaster, who rocked the house at many a PHX nightspot for years before relocating to Montreal this past summer, is making like the prodigal son and returning to the Valley (albeit for one night only) on Friday, December 5, at the Ruby Room, 717 South Central Avenue. DiPadova will be celebrating his 30th birthday at a special edition of the monthly "one" affair (which he started back in 2005 as a weekly and continued in his absence) and will be unleashing plenty of Afro-beat, global soul, and other flavors of house music. Regulars Rani "g" and dk.strickler will also spin, as well as special guest Justin Geist. The event also serves as a charity celebration and fundraiser for NextAid/World AIDS 2008. The music starts at 9 p.m. and admission is $5 before 10:30 p.m., $10 afterwards (with the first 20 people getting in for free). Visit www.one-az.com.
