DJ Jonny Rogers has one of those rags-to-riches stories you see in movies, except it actually happened. As a doe-eyed intern at WOXY in Cincinnati, Jonny Rogers learned the tables intimately and finally made his way to the Valley to host some of the area’s hottest DJ nights. As a regular resident on Wednesdays at Hanny’s, 40 North First Street, and Thursday nights at the Vig, 4041 North 40th Street, and Rogers’ diverse mix of downtempo, world, and trip-hop gives his sets an animalistic touch. And he doesn’t bother with this touch-and-play crap. Rogers spins real records, and he’s damn proud of it. There’s nothing quite like hearing needle drag on vinyl. Hear it for yourself every Wednesday and Thursday. Both nights start at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
