Junior Boys DJ set at Shake!

Though they're known for their laptop beat acrobatics, Canadian duo Junior Boys will actually be putting the needle on the records after their show with fellow Canuck Caribou on the evening of Saturday, May 21. The show with Caribou (recently known as Manitoba) is at Modified Arts, but the DJ set will be at Shake! at the Rogue (423 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale) after the Modified show lets out. Junior Boys' first full-length LP, last year's Last Exit, was hailed as one of the best dance albums of 2004; even notoriously snarky PitchforkMedia.com was wowed. Junior Boys channel early '80s electropop through a modern prism, with vocalist Johnny Greenspan crooning overhead, so expect them to rock their influences past and present. Shake! starts at 9 p.m. Saturday, with no cover, though don't expect the Junior Boys to hit the tables until later in the evening.
