With the recent (but supposedly temporary) closing of the Priceless Inn/Boston’s, home of the weekly Blunt Club hip-hop extravaganza, local heads might be worried about filling their nighttime schedules with enough beats and rhymes to keep them from withdrawal convulsions. For now, fear not — Universatile Music, which has brought many of the best underground hip-hop acts through town over the past few years, is picking up the slack, and throwing a First Friday bash at the Old Brickhouse (1 East Jackson Street) on January 7, headlined by Living Legends MC Scarub, backed up by local DJs like Just Chris, and Ohm. As with all Universatile endeavors, this one’s jam-packed with talent — Mic Cause of the Drunken Immortals rocking a solo set, the Feeblez passing the mic amongst themselves, and live art by the likes of Dumperfoo, the Nitty Gritty Crew, Mosha One, and Typoe. Doors open at 9 p.m., admission is $10, and this one’s all-ages.
