Whenever we're out surveying some of the more ostentatious and showy nightspots that make up P-town's club scene, the lyrics from that Finger 11 song "Paralyzer" seem to roll through our heads. You know, the verse where Scott Anderson sings: "This club has got to be/The most pretentious thing/Since I thought you and me." The thing is, we've never felt that way whenever visiting Lyte Lounge, 7419 East Indian Plaza. The place is swanky and stylish, yes, but the staff is (gasp) actually friendly and isn't snobby pricks when it comes to letting you in or serving up a drink. Plus, the music's always hot, particularly during the weekly Thursday night affair, Lyme Lyte. Every Thump Day, DJs Benjamin Cutswell and Kid Vicious spin a host of '90s hip-hop hits, old-school '80s jams, and more modern club bangers to keep the party going all night. Doors open at 10 p.m. with no cover. Visit www.myspace.com/lytelounge.
