It's hard to believe it's only been a year since the King of Pop's untimely death.

Today marks the anniversary of the sad occaision and a few DJs in the PHX are marking the occaison with tribute nights and mixes.

William Fucking Reed and the rest of the Sticky Fingers regulars (including Prince $$, Doubletrouble, Edgar, and Kristoefur) are marking the occasion and offering tribute to MJ's music during the weekly rock 'n' roll dance party at Rips Ales and Cocktails (3045 N. 16th St., 602-266-0015). Giveaways from Filter Magazine and a pair of tickets to Monday's Blitzen Trapper concert will also be handed out. The event starts at 9:30 p.m. and there's a $5 cover before 11 p.m.

Meanwhile, DJ Akshen will be putting on "Do You Remember the Time?" over at Tempe's Suite 301. In addition to his normal Friday night mix of hip-hop, old school and electro, the spinster will be "droppin a special MJ set in honor of the King of Pop." Doors open at 8 p.m. and the music starts at 10.

Karamba Nightclub resident DJ Melo also posted a rather fly MJ mix containing more than two dozen songs, which you can download through this link.
