Mindless Self Indulgence hates you. Don’t worry, the band will still make out with you — but only after attempts at setting you on fire and maybe throwing feces at you. It’s a third-grade mentality, but it works. MSI aptly named its live album Alienating Our Audience, but the four-piece hasn’t just rubbed listeners the wrong way. Record execs and distributors without a politically incorrect sense of humor tried to curtail the band, too — and with song titles like “2 Hookers and an 8 Ball,” “Panty Shot” and “I Hate Jimmy Page,” it’s not that surprising — but the Brooklyn-based electro-rock-on-crack band told them to F off and started its own record label, Uppity Cracker. Now the company distributes the discs and has taken on another band, The Left-Rights. So MSI loves you if you hate them. Protest at a show, and chances are vocalist Little Jimmy Urine will come by and lick your face. He’s just that kind of guy. And if you’re offended that easily, maybe you need a good lickin’ by a rock star.
