British retro-folk revivalists Mumford & Sons have made it no secret they yearn for a bygone era when electricity was something to be marveled at and a man’s facial hair could be as intricate as the handwriting in the letters he receives fortnightly from his dear sweet love.
So it’s not enough for us just to let you know the band is coming through town on Saturday, April 23 — we’ve gotta say the band is coming through the Valley as part of the “Railroad Revival Tour,” in which the erstwhile lads have commissioned a real-live train and will be steaming across the American Southwest for six exclusive dates.

Most recently here last June, Mumford & Sons this time around bring along Old Crow Medicine Show and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros. Starting off in Oakland, Calif., the tour hits up San Pedro, Calif., before stopping through Chandler at the Arizona Railway Museum. Carrying on to artsy Marta, Texas, then Austin, Texas, the tour ends up in the Big Easy.

Tickets for all dates of the tour go on sale Wednesday, March 9, at 9 a.m. PST. Tickets will only be available for purchase via railroadrevivaltour.com, and a purchase will nab you free live mp3s as well as a custom-designed, no-doubt-old-timey commemorative ticket.
