New Times DJ Competition

Once a year, we at New Times have the pleasure of sending a local beat-mechanic off to Miami during the dance-centric Winter Music Conference to play for thousands of people at the Ultra Music Festival. But before that happens, you have the chance to see the contenders throw down, with a panel of judges lurking in the shadows to decide who this year's representative from the 'Nix will be. Could it be Batucada house music and hip-hop veteran DJ Senbad? Perhaps fellow house-head Tranzit? Or DJ Maji, with his blend of house, nu-jazz, and Afro-beat? Maybe Pablo Gomez, spinning deep house and electro? Or will the ladies represent this year, thanks to Sonique des Fleurs and her house/trance mix? If you have a favorite amongst these, make sure you show up at Myst in Scottsdale on Friday, March 10 -- flood the dance floor with undulating ass cheeks so the judges can see exactly who deserves to bring the desert beats to Miami Beach.
