Scratching, mixing, beat-juggling, all the elements of hip-hop DJing -- they're all good, but sometimes you just wanna hear a song you can dance to straight through, the way you know it, the way you loved it in the first place. And especially if you're a dance-music recidivist, you need look no further than Panic!, returning to Anderson's Fifth Estate (6820 East Fifth Avenue in Scottsdale) this Thursday, January 27. Known for its Brit-pop, New Wave, mod, and indie aural offerings (courtesy of DJ Manchester), Panic! is the gold standard for shoegazing-prone dance-floor denizens. As always, the impresarios behind Panic! have a goodie bag full of swag to entice you to attend: new CDs by Erasure, Chemical Brothers, And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, and more, plus some of the hottest concert tickets in town: Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, and Mates of State. Doors open at 8 p.m., and this is a 21-and-over event.
