Few people — if any — can claim as much influence on the recent crop of dance-rock and new Brit invasion bands as Paul Epworth, the man who’s produced and/or remixed music by Bloc Party, The Rapture, Babyshambles, The Streets, The Rakes, The Futureheads, and others. Epworth, a.k.a. Phones (when he’s busting out his eight-hours-or-less laptop remixes), is following Bloc Party’s recent visit to the ‘Nix with a special DJ set at Shake! at The Rogue East in Scottsdale on Saturday, May 6. Epworth will join resident rock jocks William Fucking Reed, Dirty Dave, and Sleazy Sean for five hours of dance mania, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. The party’s free before 10 p.m., and only five bucks afterward. Get there early — this one’s going to stuff The Rogue to capacity.
