For one irate Reddit user today, that sense of zen isn’t achieved by listening to a drum being pounded and someone “forcing everyone to hear your noise.”
In a 6 a.m., August 27 post titled ‘Piestewa sunrise drummer: nobody likes you,’ user soyouaintgot2 lays out their feelings in no uncertain terms:

That’s all it took to get the ball rolling. That user isn’t the only Piestewa hiker that had some words to add for the a.m. skins slapper (yes, drum terminology). Over 200 replies popped up within two hours.
One person kept it short and not-so-sweet with a simple, “I hate that fucking guy.”
Another pondered, “What does his drum sound like when it’s rolling down the mountain, I wonder?”
There were some thoughts on how to give the drummer a taste of their own medicine, including bringing a boombox up and playing "Baby Shark" loudly next to him, to someone matching the drummer in loudness with their own clarinet. Bagpipes were also suggested.
However, a social media post is not complete without some back-and-forth. Many people criticized the original poster, accusing them of "letting ChatGPT write your post." Others were not in agreement and didn't seem to take issue with the morning music show, and many encouraged the original poster to have a direct convo with 'drum guy.'
The chat doesn't end with drums; it became an open forum for everyone to comment on what annoys them about Piestewa hikes, and it's not a short list.
Respective violations include "every hiker/cyclist who believes I need to hear their music blasted from a portable speaker. They're called headphones, try 'em out" and people decorating shrubs and trees. Taking rocks in certain spots, making circles, or creating patterned shapes also gets some folks riled up.
A few folks thought the original poster's rant was mean, but he said he just needed a spot to vent and declared, in the middle of the thread, that he was "Sorry for the old man yelling at cloud vibe, lol."
