Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
To hell with Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, and the other aging Spice Girls and their so-called reunion. We’ve found a better outlet to get overloaded with girl power — Platform Wednesdays, a hump-day hootenanny and “queer dance party” that goes down at E-Lounge, 4343 North Seventh Avenue. Every week, smokin’ hot DJ Sophia Gunn gets the rumps shaking and wipes out the midweek blues with a mix of electro, New Wave, indie, and other genres that echo throughout the Phoenix lesbian nightspot. The babe-alicious beat-slinger Gunn is also joined behind the record decks by a rotating lineup of P-town’s female turntablism talent, such as Sneaky School, DJ Mara, Emerjency, and others. Drink specials include $4 Jäger Bombers and 2-for-1 well and domestics until midnight. The party starts at 9 p.m. and there’s no cover. Visit www.myspace.com/platformqueerparty.
