"Remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Except herpes. That shit'll come back with you."-- Jeffrey Tambor in The Hangover.
Las Vegas' epic Memorial Day Weekend Punk Rock Bowling Festival just got a little more epic: Our favorite local party boys Broloaf have been added to the bill.
And it was already an impressive line up, at that, including rare performances from The Adicts, The English Beat, The Briefs, Good Riddance, 7 Seconds, and G.B.H. Set times were recently posted on the festival's website and the set conflicts don't seem too bad, but like most large festivals, it will be impossible to see everybody.
Surprisingly, Monday is laid out so with no set-time conflicts. After Pennywise wraps up their set, guests have 10 minutes to get to The Country Saloon to catch Broloaf.
"From the early morning hair of the dog remedies to the late night drunken debauchery and festivities, Punk Rock Bowling is always a fucking blast. Seeing old bros and meeting new chicks, not to mention the card tables and slot machines. Did I mention drinks are complimentary to all participating gamblers? Don't be shy and say hi at the craps table. See ya at the pool party kids," says Ben Brah, Broloaf's lead singer.
We emailed Ben Brah to see what was new with Broloaf and to find out what to expect out of the band's ensuing Punk Rock Bowling shenanigans.
Up on the Sun: How did you guys get added to the line-up?
BB:We played a show back in January with Youth Brigade and The Adolescents. BYO puts on PRB [festival] and 1 + 1 = 2. When you are putting a festival of this magnitude, you naturally want the best bands to play.
That being said, BroLoaf will be destroying The Country Saloon on Fremont street in Las Vegas, Nevada come Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th.
Are you guys going to be bowling at all?
We would enjoy winning the bowling tournament, but that would interfere with all the drinking, drugs, sluts, and gambling there is to do. Besides, doesn't Bill Anderson have one of those trophies? Why should Phoenicians drive up to Vegas to see Broloaf?
Cause it's fucking BroLoaf and it's in fucking LAS VEGAS. 'Nuff Said! What can we expect from your performance?
Ahhh the BroLoaf Extra Special Top Secret Super Fun Show. I really can't go into details.
Who will be making an appearance, anyone new?
We don't call it "Top Secret" cause it sounds cool.
What bands are you most excited to see at PRB?
You mean besides BroLoaf? The pool party.
Really though, The dudes in NOLOAF emailed us and asked us not to be at the Riverboat Gamblers show cause it would ruin their "good time" and "sober, positive vibe". Also, something was said about the pepperspray incident and NOLOAF now has a court ordered restraining order against Detective Lancer(Scottsdale P.D.) so since it's also way out of his jurisdiction, he most likely won't show his ugly mug in Sin City.
Broloaf has played in Vegas before. What was that experience like?
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Wait a minute. I do remember this random girls tits and her boyfriend asking her if, and I quote "Are you going to fuck these guys?" and then Del Taco, cheap wine and awkward fist bumps with strangers on a bridge somewhere at 9 A.M.
Broloaf performs at The Country Saloon in Las Vegas as part of Punk Rock Bowling on Monday, May 28 at 10:20 p.m.
