Want to get out of town for New Year's Eve, but not so far out of town that you're in California or Vegas?

Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers are planning a pretty cool option: a show at Flagstaff's historic Orpheum Theatre.

Clyne's shows are always a big drunken party, and sometimes it's nice to see a little snow at the start of the new year, so this makes a lot of sense.

The all-ages show is on December 31, which is a Friday this year (yay!), and will run from 8 p.m. until after midnight. RCPM have support from Tramps & Thieves and Telescope. Tickets are $40 plus service fees in advance -- not cheap, but not a lot given the natural NYE mark-up -- and if you're up in Flag you can pick them up at available at Rainbow's End or Animas Trading. Otherwise go to Greenhouse Productions website.

Not sold? Stay tuned to Up On The sun for updates on other NYE show options as they pop up.

Keep Phoenix New Times Free... Since we started Phoenix New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Phoenix, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Phoenix with no paywalls.
