THE NIGHT: Saturdays at Dwntwn Club

THE DJS: Luis & Cesar 3ro

THE SCENE: Minority rules at this upscale club. Before 1 a.m., most of the 300-plus people here are Latinos in baggy jeans and designer dress shirts, with dates in shrinking mini-skirts or tight dresses. The air is heavy with a cloud of cologne and the faint smell of spilled Corona. When other nightspots close at 1 a.m., Dwntwn Club catches the overflow, bumping beats and keeping the doors open until 5 a.m. There is a dress code, however, so don’t wear sneakers and be ready for a security check at the door.

THE VIBE: DJ Cesar 3ro packs the main dance floor with Latin dance pop, while DJ Luis spins souped-up salsa merengue in the back room. Both areas are carnal traffic jams of swiveling hips and bouncing booties, and when the floors are full, people just dance wherever they are standing.
