Shake! 6th Anniversary @ Rogue Bar

Although they might be loath to admit it, the members of the Valley's current hipster DJ scene owe a ginormous debt of gratitude to William Fucking Reed (pictured). His highly popular indie dance weekly Shake!, which rocked The Rogue Bar in Scottsdale for five years straight, also proved to be highly influential. Besides paving the way for such trendy events as Cheap Thrills, the swanked-up Saturday-night affair served as an incubator for burgeoning DJ talent like Funkfinger, Prince $$, and Kevin the Makeout Bandit, all of whom served as Shake! residents before launching their own dance nights. Both Reed and his regulars are hoping to recapture the raucous spirit of Shake! by reviving the night for a special sixth-anniversary one-off celebration on Saturday, February 19, at The Rogue, 423 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale. In addition to the aforementioned spinsters, the lineup includes an appearance by Hot Pink! founder Denny Le Nimh. The party starts at 9 p.m. with a $5 cover. Call 480-947-3580.
