Valley indie rockers Emperors of Japan have already contributed two excellent albums to the local music canon in the form of 2006's Your Freak Majesty and last year's Activator. Based on the lineup for this weekend's Shizzfest, you may as well add "ace concert promoters" to their list of accomplishments. EoJ's Tony Poer has been working with local music Web site theshizz.org to put together a 13-band bill featuring some of the more recognizable names in the Valley music scene. In addition to EoJ themselves, who will presumably be previewing some songs from their forthcoming third album, the lineup features the Necronauts, Colorstore, Fatigo, Yukon Ho, Art for Starters, France vs. France, and a reunited After Any Accident, among others. At just eight bucks a ticket, you'll be paying less than 62 cents a band, which is a pretty smokin' deal in these shaky economic times. Shizzfest kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and will feature both an indoor and outdoor stage to keep the music flowing nonstop. If you were among the Valley music fans disappointed by the cancellation of last year's Bands on Grand event, this show should definitely provide some consolation.
