For a while, it seemed as if the only off-the-chain event going down over at the Rogue East, 423 North Scottsdale Road in Scottsdale, was William Fucking Reed’s rock ‘n’ roll dance party Shake! on Saturdays. Thankfully, this sad state of affairs has been rectified, as the landmark hipster hangout now boasts a new lineup of regular dancefests throughout the week where one can drink and debauch until last call, including the new Thump Day throwdown Shock*Rock*Cock. Helmed by local DJ and vocalist Erik Shocker and his cohort Hollywood Tyler, the night promises to “bring the shock back to Thursdays” with choice cuts from glam bands like T-Rex and David Bowie, sleazy jams from such rockers as L.A. Guns and Faster Pussycat, and protopunk from the likes of The New York Dolls and Iggy Pop. Occasional glam-loving guests will also get in some turntable some weeks, such as the ubiquitous Reed (who visits on Thursday, May 31). The needle drops at 10 p.m. and there’s no cover.
